This blog was mainly created to log my training for the FLM 2005, but who knows, I may keep it going afterwards. So join me here as I run up, down, round and back again while I get ready to run my Big Marathon. I have it in my head that this will be my last marathon, but then after my first one I said "NEVER AGAIN!" so we'll see!! Either way, I figure this will be a major event in my life and worth journalling for posterity.

Up and down and up and down...

Well, marathon training has officially started. It was supposed to start on Monday but that's beside the point! I made up for lost time today and did the hill session that was scheduled for yesterday. It was my first ever hill session. Of course, I've run lots of hills before, and my run to university last year was uphill all the way, but I've never gone out of my way to look for hills to run up before!! It was pretty tiring but it felt good. I ran 10 mins warmup, then up and down for 30 mins and then a slow 15 min run home. The run home was very tiring but then these crazy sessions are supposed to get you used to running on tired legs, right? I'm going to keep doing the same hill session every time and see how my time improves. Today's exact time 55:07.

Tomorrow I'm planning an 84km bike ride.... I'm going house hunting in Guilford and rather than waste time and money on train tickets I'm going to ride out there and back. If I get too tired I can always throw the bike on a train!! Then on Saturday I'll be recovering from a debauched New Year and Sunday is a long run with the running club. So, I'm gearing up for a fit and healthy New Year, and I hope to be lean mean running machine (with emphasis on the LEAN) by April!!

Well done on your first set of hll running. Your right its spposed to be tiring so no worries needed about the way yourlegs felt towards the end. After all its just like a bumpy speed season. Good luck on the house hunting just hope you dont end up too saddle sore!
